The Bourne School, School Lane, Lower Bourne, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 3PE

Welcome to our website

Welcome to the Bourne School website. It is designed to provide you with an insight into the full and happy life of the school. Each class has its own page where you can see examples of the things that we do. The site is regularly updated with information that you may find useful.

At The Bourne we strive for excellence in teaching and enjoyment in learning, and provide a stable and secure environment in which your child can develop to their full potential. We encourage and value an active partnership with parents and look forward to getting to know you and your children.

Please enjoy browsing the website and if you have any questions do not hesitate to let us know. We also welcome visits during the school day from prospective parents. You can meet the children and staff, and absorb the atmosphere first hand. Do please contact me to make an appointment.

Click to Enlarge Farnham Carnival 2008 was on Saturday 28th June (Theme: "The World of Entertainment"). We were there along with our splendid crocodile. Click on the picture to see a larger version.
Click to Enlarge Our Years 1 and 2 children were visited by Recycler, a robot who teaches children about the 3Rs - reduce, reuse and recycle. The children were able to demonstrate their knowledge about this important subject. Don't be too surprised if your children start to nag you about bags for life in the supermarket, organise your recycling or turn all your old plastic bottles into rockets!

By popular request here is the recipe for the school dinner butterscotch tart.

Click to Enlarge The whole school enjoyed a visit from The Puppeteers, who performed 'Medley for Strings'. They visit us every year and always produced a fantastic show featuring a variety of puppets they have designed and made themselves. The puppets are works of art themselves and can be seen on The Puppeteers website.

"THAT WAS SUCH FUN!"

Lots of children put their wellies on and went down to the field to play in the snow. Year 2 built a massive snow castle, and there were lots of giant snowballs and snowmen.

Click to Enlarge Apple Class have made a display of apple trees through the seasons. They also celebrated Apple Day by tasting and investigating six different varieties of English apple. Their favourite apple was Jupiter.
Click to Enlarge With a great deal of help from a committed group of parent helpers, the vegetable garden has been planted with seeds and small plants by each class. All of the children visit their class bed regularly, either in small groups or as a whole class. As you can see from the photograph the garden looks wonderful, and we have even started to harvest salad crops and strawberries.

The school was inspected by Ofsted on 29 September 2008 and found to be outstanding in all areas. This is a huge achievement for staff, governors, children and parents, and recognition of the work of the whole school family.
